By-Law & Policy

🏛 Understanding Municipal By-Laws & Policies

Municipal by-laws and policies are the rules and guidelines set by the Municipality to help ensure the safety, order, and well-being of the community. By-laws are legally enforceable regulations passed by Council under the authority of The Municipal Act of Manitoba, and they cover important local matters such as property standards, animal control, noise, business licensing, and more.

Municipal policies, while not enforceable laws, are internal guidelines that help the Municipality make consistent decisions and provide efficient services. These include administrative procedures, operational standards, and service delivery practices.

By-laws are adopted through a formal public process and may include opportunities for resident input. Once approved, they are enforced by designated municipal staff or by law enforcement officers, where applicable.

If you have questions about a specific by-law or would like to report a concern, please contact the municipal office 204-855-2423 Ext 101.
