Oak Lake Regional Community Development Board

This motivated volunteer board was established in 1996 as a subcommittee of Council. Since that time, the OLRCDB along with the whole community at large, have worked tirelessly toward goals of growth.

Our Motto: Growing Home

Our Vision: The Oak Lake area is a great place to live, work and play together.

Our Mission: The Oak Lake Regional Community Development Board promotes the area’s community, social and cultural values to enhance healthy living and economic development in an environmentally friendly way.

Our Mandate:

  • Promoting community, social and cultural values
  • Promoting healthy living
  • Promoting economic development
  • Promoting infrastructure development
  • Protecting the environment

Projects that we have successfully worked on:

Thrift and Thrive Thrift Store:

The OLRCDB was gifted the old "Berean Church" when covid had come and gone, and the church had decided to close its doors. The church was then gifted to the municipality. Our group to on the iniciative of figuring out what could be done with this building. Fast forward a couple of years, and we decided our community could really benefit from a Thrift Store. With a lot of work, manpower, and volunteer hours, we had a store! Now Thrift and Thrive is really "thriving" and has been a great community asset. All funding that the thrift store brings in, we gift back to the community, whether it's to a specific group, donations to events, sponsorships, and so on.

Oak Lake Bike Playground:

The park was first started by a group of volunteers trying to give a safe space for children to play on their bikes. As years went on, the group dwindled away, and the bike park became over run with grass and forgotten. The OLRCDB took inciative along side the EDO to make it a project to fix it up. CDB hosted a fundraiser event, and the EDO raised funding to bring the park back to life.

Facade Grant Program:

The OLRCDB saw an opportunity to work with our community members to spruce up our communities. Each year, we host the opportunity for residents and business owners to apply for our Facade Grant to make improvements to their properties. If you want to know more about this, please find more information at our Grant page.
