The Community Development Board in Oak Lake is seeking a part time Thrift Store Manager who can oversee the daily operations of the store, ensuring it meets sales targets, maintains customer service standards, and aligns with the Community Development Board mission, all while meeting the expectations of the community. Key responsibilities include:
Store Operations:
- Direct all store activities to achieve sales goals and control expenses.
- Maintain organization of store to attract customers, including merchandising displays and having an eye for detail.
- Handle customer and donor concerns promptly and courteously.
- Ensure proper retrieval, sorting, and pricing of donations while overseeing volunteer staff.
- Have exemplary customer service
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, keeping the sales floor stocked and overall safety of the store.
- Willingness to meet with CDB, when required, to give updates on success of store.
- Work in conjunction with an appointed CDB member for advertising and promotion of the store.
- Ability to evaluate merchandise and make decisions about what to keep and what to sell.
Staff Supervision:
- Provide leadership and support to volunteers.
- Will help to oversee selection of merchandise for the store.
- Conduct enough training to ensure volunteers understanding of intake processes and merchandising.
Administration:
- Prepare weekly sales balance sheets/receipts for CDB treasurer.
- Manage volunteer scheduling weekly for processing.
- Ensure compliance with CDB policies and procedures.
Health and Safety:
- Oversee the health and safety of all customers and volunteers.
- Ensure all volunteers are aware of emergency procedures.
- Maintain a safe store environment, addressing hazards promptly.
Financial Management:
- Ensure all cash operations are conducted according to policy.
- Manage the store budget within guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Retail experience an asset
- Basic computer skills an asset
- Experience with managing groups of individuals and working well with others.
- Experience with cash handling and related procedures.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Multi tasking capabilities
- Problem solving skills
- Time management skills
This role requires a proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently, lead a team, and handle the physical demands of a retail environment. Flexibility in work schedule, including evenings and weekends, may be required. Starting hours at minimum 20 hours per week at $1600/per month flat rate, no deductions.
