The hard-working team of history book committee members met April 4th to continue the journey to bring the dream of volume II of “Ox trails to Blacktop” to life! We heard the difficult news that one of our large grant applications to New Horizons had been denied. To date we have received donations from the Oak Lake and Area Foundation, the Lions Club, Oak Lake Museum, the R.M. of Sifton and the Valley- view Co-op as well as a number of individuals. Thanks to these donations, the cost of the history book will become affordable to more people. We have now raised approximately 40% of the money needed to bring the book to print. Our financial committee will continue to apply for more grants, and we strongly urge anyone wishing to donate to the history book to do so in a timely manner. The donations should be made to the R.M. of Sifton through cheques or E-transfer and clearly marked for the history book project. You will be issued a donation receipt from the R.M. of Sifton for income tax purposes.
Watch for our Tee shirt fundraiser, we will be having some pop-up sales coming to various future community events. They are emblazoned with the new history book logo in black on the front of 100% cotton gray shirts. Stay tuned for pricing!
